Over the past 30 years solar pool heating has evolved to what it is today. 30 years ago people were experimenting with off the shelf irrigation pipe rolled up and secured to the roof. This was short lived as the “polypipe” was designed for underground use and was not ultraviolet stabilised (U.V.) thus the lifespan was around 5 years. The aesthetics of a spiral plate like solar system of the roof of your home was also unacceptable to many and certainly would not be approved by many Housing estate developments today.
So, a solar pool panel needed to be designed, that would look aesthetically pleasing and be highly efficient as well as with stand the harsh South African weather conditions.
Our pool solar collector panel, similar to that of the Israeli brand Heliocol, was developed in Cape Town South Africa more than 15 years ago. The pool panel proved to be efficient, aesthetically pleasing and have virtually zero wind load, which was essential for Cape Town or any windy areas.
The Hi Temp Sunseeker Pool Solar Panel was developed and manufactured, initially from a home garage, and was later manufactured in a factory in Killarney Gardens using the latest in machinery and materials. The Hi Temp Sunseeker Pool Solar Panel proved to be a great success and also a fraction of the price of the Israeli Heliocol Pool Solar Panel that needed to be imported.
The Sunseeker Solar Pool Collector took the South African market by storm. Initially just the Western Cape was targeted as the swimming pool water often never increased above the mid twenty’s. Many Capetonians threatened to ‘fill in’ their swimming pools as they only spent 30 days a year over a 3 month period using this for swimming. A swimming pool is a bad investment in the if unheated as you will hardly make use of it.
With more than a thousand Sunseeker Pool Heating Solar Collector Panels installed in the Western Cape, the panel proved to be great addition to any swimming pool. The Sunseeker Pool Panel was an affordable option for all pool owners.
5 years later the Sunseeker Pool Panels were introduced to Gauteng province and ironically the Kwa-Zulu Natal province. Who would have thought that pool owners in KZN would even consider pool heating as an option?
In 2002, we introduced another successful pool heating option which was the Hi Temp ECO Titanium Heatpump. This option was best suited for businesses, guest houses and swimming schools whereby the water temperature could be controlled throughout the year, irrelevant of weather conditions.
The latest design of the Hi Temp Titanium Heatpump.range is the “Coastal Quality” plastic ABS Rust Free Casing. A smart looking heatpump machine that will not be an “eyesore” after a year due to rust. For more info on Titanium heatpump visit www.heatpumps.co.za
2010 was not only a great year for World Cup Soccer, but a year of change. Hi Temp Pool Heating South Africa officially opened another manufacturing facility in Ballito, Dolphin Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal. Partners Glen Symes and his son, Dominic Symes were home!
That year the SUNSEEKER PRO was developed. A simple, yet highly effective change to the pool panel design was born. The main difference was that this panel had double the amount of riser pipes, in its construction, yet was the same size 3.0m x 1.2m.
140 riser pipes per panel were assembled offering double the kilowatt as that of the Sunseeker Pool Panel. This design opened doors for homes where roof space was a consideration. The Sunseeker PRO Pool Panel was an instant success! The long and short of it was that for every two Sunseeker panels required only one Sunseeker PRO Pool panel was required. This brought down installation labour costs and made it possible to heat virtually any swimming pool now.
